Since 2004, board-certified dermatologist Dr. Amy Watson, MD, and her team of certified physician assistants have cared for adults and children from across the Gulf Coast at one location: 4850 Grande Dr, Pensacola, FL 32504. This page explains how to get to us from Gulf Breeze, who you will see, what we treat in the office, and what to expect from your first visit.
How Far Is Our Office From Gulf Breeze?
From the center of Gulf Breeze, the drive is about 10 miles and usually takes 20 to 25 minutes, depending on bridge and downtown traffic. The most direct route is:
- Take US-98 (Gulf Breeze Parkway) west and cross the Pensacola Bay Bridge into downtown Pensacola.
- Follow Gregory Street briefly, then take I-110 north.
- Exit at Fairfield Drive, head east, then turn north on 12th Avenue toward Grande Dr.
If you live on the east side of Gulf Breeze or out toward Tiger Point, add a few minutes along Gulf Breeze Parkway. Your GPS will give you the exact turns to 4850 Grande Dr. Plan to arrive about ten minutes early on your first visit to check in.
Who Will I See at My Appointment?
Dr. Amy Pote Watson is a medical and surgical dermatologist who treats both adult and pediatric patients. A Pensacola native, she earned her medical degree at Tulane University School of Medicine, completed an internal medicine residency at UT Southwestern/Parkland Hospital in Dallas and a dermatology residency at LSU New Orleans, where she served as Chief Dermatology Resident. She is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology.
Three certified physician assistants work alongside her: Jennifer Matechik, PA-C, Rachel LeMaitre, PA-C and Jonathan Adair, PA-C. Each received personalized dermatology training with Dr. Watson. They perform full skin exams, diagnose and treat skin conditions, prescribe therapy, and perform procedures such as shave and punch biopsies, cryotherapy and excisions, as well as chemical peels and Botox.
What Skin Conditions Can We Treat for Gulf Breeze Patients?
Most of what we do is medical dermatology: diagnosing and managing conditions that affect how your skin feels, functions and looks. Common reasons people see us include:
- Acne, from blackheads and whiteheads to deep, painful cysts that can scar
- Eczema and other itchy, inflamed rashes in kids and adults
- Psoriasis, including topical treatment and systemic options such as biologics for more severe cases
- Rosacea, with trigger identification and prescription care for redness and bumps
- Warts and molluscum, cysts, lipomas and other lumps and bumps
- Moles that are new, changing or simply worrying you, and birthmarks that need monitoring
We also offer skin allergy evaluation and patch testing. Dr. Watson has been a member of the American Contact Dermatitis Society for more than 20 years and uses the 80-allergen core series to screen for common contact allergens. Patients with a positive result get access to the Contact Allergen Management Program (CAMP) database, which builds a personal list of products free of their allergens.
What Skin Cancer Care Happens in Our Office?
Living on the water means a lifetime of sun, and regular skin checks are one of the simplest ways to catch problems early. Our skin cancer and surgery care starts with a head-to-toe skin exam. Here is what we handle in the office and when we refer you elsewhere:
| Concern | What we do at Pensacola Dermatology |
|---|---|
| Annual or first-time skin check | Full-body skin exam; suspicious spots are evaluated and biopsied when needed |
| Actinic keratoses (precancers) | Cryotherapy, electrodesiccation and curettage, topical chemotherapy or immunotherapy creams, or chemical peeling |
| Basal cell or squamous cell carcinoma | Surgical excision under local numbing during an office visit of about 20 minutes |
| Melanoma | A treatment plan based on the depth of the melanoma, whether it has spread and your overall health |
| Mohs micrographic surgery | Not performed here. When Mohs is the right choice, we refer you to a doctor who provides it |
Between visits, check your own skin monthly using the ABCDE guide: asymmetry, irregular borders, multiple colors, a diameter larger than a pencil eraser, and any spot that is evolving. A spot that bleeds, itches or will not heal is worth an appointment.
Which Cosmetic Treatments Do We Offer?
Our cosmetic dermatology services are focused and conservative. We offer Botox for frown lines, crow’s feet and forehead lines; treatment typically takes less than 30 minutes, results start to show within three to seven days and usually last three to six months. We also offer chemical peels to improve fine lines, uneven tone, sun damage and mild acne scarring. We do not offer dermal fillers.
What Do Patients Say About Visiting Us?
Our patient reviews tend to mention the same things: short waits, a clean office and providers who take their time. A few in their own words:
“I was in and treated, out 15 minutes before my scheduled appointment time. Staff is friendly and very professional. Been going there for years.” (Robert F.)
“Dr. Watson was very attentive to any concerns I had and resolved them.” (Barbara S.)
How Do Insurance and Payment Work?
We accept most major medical insurance plans. Because networks change, call the office before your appointment to confirm we are in network with your plan. Bring your insurance card, a photo ID and your copay. If your plan requires a referral to see a specialist, get it from your primary care provider before your visit. We accept cash, Visa, Mastercard and Discover.
